1/2S - Folds of Tradition
This artwork was inspired by a Harmony Day discussion about traditional costumes. 1/2S read a story called, Suki’s Kimono, which tells the story of a girl who is given a beautiful kimono by her grandma. She is so proud of her culture that she wears the kimono to school. The students researched how to make origami kimonos and watched a number of videos until they found a style that they really liked. They examined the intricate patterns on the origami paper as well as the different shapes and lines of symmetry. As a class, we learnt the importance of precise folding, taking our time and being very patient, in order to get the best result.

3C - Ocean Whirls
The artwork “Ocean Whirls” by 3C was inspired by the movement of waves and the calming colours of the sea. After reading The Thing About Oliver by Deborah Kelly, the class connected with the character of Tilly and her dream of learning to swim and becoming a marine biologist. Using shades of blue and white, each student explored swirling brushstrokes to represent the ocean's constant motion and energy. This artwork reminds us that with determination, we can swim towards any goal.

KS - Wild about Learning
The students of KS have brought their creativity to life with this bright and bold tiger! Each student added their own special touch, using vibrant colours and fun patterns to create this safari jungle masterpiece. The tiger represents everything KS love about learning — curiosity, teamwork, and the joy of exploring new ideas. It’s a reminder that here at KS, we are not just learning, we are wild about it!

4S - Colours of the reef
Inspired by the novel The Thing About Oliver by Deborah Kelly, which highlights the beauty of coral reefs, 4S has created a stunning painting using watercolour and acrylic paints. Under the guidance of local artist Ros Gervay, the students began by carefully drawing various sea creatures, which they then painted with watercolour to add depth and dimension. Following this, the students collaborated to paint the vibrant background using acrylics, allowing their individual talents to shine through. Together, they produced a beautiful coral reef scene, where each creature was thoughtfully placed within the reef, creating a cohesive and visually engaging representation of this rich underwater ecosystem. This arrangement highlights the idea that, like the sea creatures, students can thrive when they work together and support one another in their learning journey.

2C - Connections
This artwork uses intertwining lines to symbolise the connections that have been built together in 2C. Each line represents an individual, yet together they form a unified whole, reflecting the strength and support shared as a group. The result is a beautiful reminder of the bonds formed in 2C and the memories created.

K/1G - Turtle Tales
In this vibrant artwork, the students in K/1G have created a collage of a turtle, using a combination of watercolour and acrylic paints on art paper. The bright colours reflect the creativity and joy of the class. The turtle, a symbol of wisdom, perseverance, and protection represents the learning journey of K/1G. Just as a turtle carries its home on its back, the students are building a foundation of knowledge and skills that will support them throughout their educational adventures. The turtle's slow and steady nature reminds us of the importance of patience and resilience in learning, encouraging students to take their time to explore, experiment, and grow.

KA - ‘Seas’ the Day
Starting Kindergarten is a big adventure and KA is always ready to ‘seize the day’. To create the class artwork, students used watercolour paints to carefully paint the art paper. They needed to take their time to create smooth even strokes. Each piece was then cut into a boat shape and placed on a seascape background. If you look closely, you’ll notice that each boat is supporting another. This reminds us that although we are on our own journey, we support each other along the way. The different colours and patterns used also makes each boat unique and interesting, just like us!

6/5A – Indigo Blue Ripples
Students created individual circle designs using varying shades of indigo and blue watercolours, allowing the paint to flow freely and form soft, organic shapes. Each circular piece carried its own unique movement and depth, with lighter and darker tones. Once dry, the students enhanced their designs using Posca pens, adding intricate patterns, dots, and lines to create unique circles reflecting their own individuality. These circular creations reflect the natural forms found in the world around us - ripples in water, tree rings, the curves of raindrops - celebrating the beauty of nature through art.

6/5J - The Wind’s Canvas
Students in 6/5J used bright coloured pens to decorate individual air balloons, transforming each one into a vibrant masterpiece. Splashes of vivid reds, yellows, blues, and greens mirror the lively hues found in nature. The radiant designs not only captured the spirit of creativity but also reflected the beauty and diversity of the natural world, turning the sky into a canvas of celebration and wonder.

1J - Love of Learning, Love of Life
Taking inspiration from the school pledge, 1J created this array of hearts to warm your heart! This term, students have been practising blending watercolours and discussing how to create harmony using adjacent colours from the colour wheel. In this piece, they each painted a rectangle using a wet on wet, or wet on dry technique. A heart template was then digitally designed and electronically cut to precision! In 1J we are a happy bunch, we love learning, we love our friends and classmates, and we love our school. We hope you love our creation!

6/5N - Insecta Mosaic
This collaborative piece explores the intricate beauty of insects through colour, texture, and repetition. Each paint gem was individually placed by students, transforming a simple medium into something both detailed and dynamic. Inspired by the diversity and design of the insect world, the work invites viewers to consider the small creatures we often overlook. The process was both meditative and communal where each student's contribution formed part of a larger whole, much like the ecosystems insects inhabit.

4M - Friendship under the Starry Night
Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, 4M has created this painting using acrylic paints and techniques of swirls. Its swirling skies and vibrant, luminous stars, serves as a beautiful metaphor for the enduring strength of friendship. Just as the night sky is never truly dark thanks to the countless stars that light it up, true friendship illuminates our lives. The painting’s dynamic energy reminds us that, no matter the distance or time, the bonds we share with friends continue to shine brightly, creating a constellation of memories and support.

6/5W - Sunswirl: A Celebration of Colour and Creativity
This artwork was inspired by the swirling energy and vibrant colours of a psychedelic sunset. Each child explored bold colour choices and flowing patterns to create a sense of movement and emotion, using paints to blend and contrast tones. Every colour and swirl reflects each student’s unique creative style, capturing their individual way of expressing mood, energy and imagination. The final piece bursts with life and reminds us of the beauty found in self-expression, creativity, and seeing the world through a different lens.

1H - Brighter Together
The students in 1H explored the vibrant world of Henri Matisse, best known for his joyful paper cut-outs. Matisse described this process as “drawing with scissors,” using colour and shape to bring his art to life. Inspired by his creative style, the students painted their own paper in bright colours, then carefully cut and arranged the shapes to create one big collage. Each piece is unique, but together they make something truly special. Just like our class, it’s brighter together.

KC - A Garden in the Stars
The students of KC were inspired by the imaginative world of Yayoi Kusama, who once said, "Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity." As a class, KC collaboratively painted vibrant sheets of colour, which were later transformed into bright polka dots and blooming flowers, capturing the feeling of a garden growing across the stars. Each dot and flower represents a unique part of the universe: growing, connecting, and coming together to form something beautiful. This joyful creation is a reflection of KC’s creativity, teamwork, and the idea that just like flowers, stars, and Kusama’s dots we are all part of something infinite, ever-blooming, and wonderfully connected.

6/5M - Splashes of Spring
This vibrant artwork was inspired by Jackson Pollock’s expressive drip technique. 6/5M students carefully painted each petal of the flower, using dynamic brushstrokes and flicks of colour to capture movement and energy. While the splattered layers create a sense of freedom and spontaneity, every mark was thoughtfully placed to build a unified and striking image. This artwork celebrates creativity, individuality and the beauty that can bloom through bold expression.

3/4B - Petals of Light
The students of 3/4B carefully used a 'wet on wet' watercolour technique to design petals, creating a harmonious blending of colours. They then meticulously shaped these petals into elegant forms. These were thoughtfully arranged as a colour wheel featuring the hues of orange, red, yellow, purple, blue, green, resembling a beautifully blooming flower. At the centre, a carefully painted centrepiece represents the heart of the flower, symbolising unity and beauty in diversity.

3F - Mudjin
Mudjin (Dharug for family) by 3F took inspiration from the vivid colours of the coral, fish and other sea life described in The Thing About Oliver by Deborah Kelly and the colours of the planets, nebulas and stars researched in Deadly Science ‘Solar System’ by Corey Tutt. The students combined 2D shapes investigated in maths and a honeycomb style pattern from their living things science unit to create different shapes and design patterns. The result represents a combination of the dynamic and colourful personalities that combine to form our 3F family.

2H - School of Fish
This artwork is inspired by an underwater scene, where each fish symbolises a unique student in the class. Each student designed their own fish using metallic watercolours and gel pens, showcasing their individual personalities and creative styles. The fish swim together harmoniously, illustrating the importance of diversity and teamwork. This collective piece not only highlights the distinctive traits of each student but also emphasises how, together, they form a dynamic and thriving community, much like a school of fish navigating the vast ocean.
