In addition to performing at school functions, the bands are committed to perform at several outside events. Details will be updated here, via Chatters and email.  Please watch for these and mark the dates in your diary.  Please note that sometimes performance dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.

The Band program at Lane Cove West is expanding rapidly and looks to recruit new members from years 3 to 6 each year. A parent-run Band Committee ensures the band program is run efficiently and effectively in liaison with our conductors  Brad Madigan and Alex Silver. There are three bands: Junior for students beginning to learn an instrument, Senior for students in their second year and above of their playing instrument and a Jazz band for Year 5 and 6 students in senior band. The bands have a variety of performances during the year, including at school assemblies, Open Day, Presentation Day, concerts and Festivals.

Band Chaperone Duties

Two parents are rostered to be present at band rehearsal primariily to be other adults present to assist the conductor.

  • Students need to set up their own chair and music stand and instrument.
  • Parents can help with crowd control, eg to support the conductor with any misbehaviour throughout the rehearsal.
  • Parents can take the roll if the conductor does not do it.
  • Parents can help pack away all items before leaving the hall.
  • Parents walk students back to school.
